More about the process
This design has taken many forms. The concept behind it was inspired by how I envisioned John and M’s home: hip, sleek, white, yet homely. A key element in these interior styles was sheepskin. I wanted to work with this material because many scenes take place at home.
The theatrical text has a sense of warmth and comfort, but also something confining and stressful. This led me to large moving fabrics, operated like a kind of machinery. They can create beautiful, comforting visuals, but also enclose characters or allow them to hide.
