More about the process
What begins as a theatrical lecture on internet addiction unfolds into an honest monologue about the same topic. In the set design, I wanted to capture this derailment as well.
I projected horizontal lines onto the vertical lines of the paper backdrop, creating small squares—a free association with graph paper in a lecture setting. As the performance progressed, the lines began to move in a swiping motion. At first, they moved gently from bottom to top, but the movement gradually became faster and faster. It culminates in the lines losing control, just before the performer does the same.
In the final image, the lines disappear, leaving only a magnolia slowly unfolding (a reference to the text). The paper strips flutter, and at last, there is lightness and freedom.
What is the difference between all the lines?
Sketch model phase
We chose to change the total destruction into a strong wind and a sense of freedom.

This is how I created the costume design: trying out many styles on myself.
